Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Cleaning out closets and drawers once a year is the pits. This year, I decided to do something different. I took one room a week and cleaned out every drawer, closet and under the bed. After gathering all the junk that we didn’t need, I placed it in boxes to go either to a charity or to a consignment shop. Being a single mom, the less clutter and more money, the better! We got both and it’s great. - Thea Morris Jessup, New Bern, N.C.

Dear Heloise: I went to the auto junkyard and for $10 bought a nice truck side mirror. My neighbor installed it (high) on the wall, not reachable from the ground. When the doorbell rings, I can see who is at my door from my window. If I don’t know the person, I don’t answer the door. Better safe than sorry. - Bertha Vondracek, Baltimore
