Girls - Region I, Nicole Maloney, Sandpoint; District III, Susan Werner, Boise; District IV-V, Sharlyn Maughan, Minico; District VI, Rachel Ramer, Skyline.

Outlook: It should be a runaway in the boys race. Idaho Falls returns its team intact, plus a transfer in district champion Ben Parker. Boise appears a lock for second. After that it’s anybody’s guess. Boise’s girls, led by potential individual champion Susan Werner, are favored to dethrone Pocatello.

Outlook: It’s been 10 years since the former boys power, Jerome, won a state title. But the Tigers could return to the throne. Jerome has won 13 state titles, including a stretch of 10 straight from 1973-82. Four points separated the top three girls teams last year, and the finish could be just as tight Saturday.

Outlook: It could be a clean sweep by McCall-Donnelly. Ririe will challenge in the boys and North Fremont could do likewise in the girls.
