Angels Decide On Ex-Astros Skipper

Terry Collins, fired a month ago as manager of the Houston Astros, will be the next manager of the California Angels, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

The decision was confirmed to the newspaper on Saturday by several unidentified baseball sources.

Later Sunday, the team issued a release indicating there will be “a major announcement regarding the ballclub” at a news conference today.

The Angels, who finished last in the American League West, have been without a manager since Marcel Lachemann resigned Aug. 6.
