Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: We are buying a new home. The previous owners put those horrible nonskid rubbertype flower appliques on the floor of the bathtub.
Could you please tell me how to get them off? Thank you. - Sharyn L. Williams, Orange, Calif.
Usually you can peel off the flowers with a plastic ice scraper (don’t use anything metal because it could scratch the tub surface) and you are left with the stubborn residue.
To remove it, make sure the tub is dry and pour some dry cornmeal onto the residue and scrub with a nylon net scrubber. A little elbow grease may be necessary, but it should come right up.
(FYI: If you have young children or older adults in your home, it’s a good idea to have those decals to prevent bathtub/shower falls.)
Good luck! - Heloise
