Superintendent Honored By Peers

From Staff And Wire Reports

Bob Haley of the Meridian School District is Idaho’s top superintendent for the year.

Haley, who is in his fifth year as Meridian’s superintendent, was selected from eight nominees among the state’s 112 school district executives.

Mike Friend, executive director of the Idaho Association of School Administrators, said Haley will be Idaho’s representative in the annual quest to name the best superintendent in the nation.

“The award recognizes an outstanding superintendent,” he said. “It’s peer-selected, so it is recognition from their colleagues for contributions for the superintendency.”

Haley said the honor reflects the successes of employees throughout the district as much as his personal accomplishments.

“It’s a tremendous honor to represent the superintendents of the state and it’s a rather humbling process because, really for a superintendent to be outstanding, he or she must have a tremendous support staff,” he said.
