Backhoe Accidentally Cuts Telephone Lines

From Staff And Wire Reports

Nearly 1,400 South Hill homes were without telephone service Thursday after a private contractor inadvertently cut four US West cables.

The accident occurred mid-morning, when a man using a backhoe to do sewer work tore up the cables near 63rd and Pittsburg, said Annette Miller, US West spokeswoman.

Service was restored by about 3:30 p.m., Miller said. , DataTimes
