Headway Made Against Forest Fire Burning Near Entiat

Associated Press

A 150-acre blaze in the Wenatchee National Forest was about 75 percent contained Thursday morning and should be completely encircled today, a U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman said.

The Myrtle fire is burning about a mile southwest of Myrtle Lake. About 175 firefighters are battling the flames.

Original estimates put the fire’s size at 80 acres, but that was increased after satellite imaging maps were used, Forest Service spokeswoman Marti Ames said. The fire, however, has not grown in size.

The blaze is believed to have been caused by humans, but its origin has not been pinpointed, Ames said.
