Windows Shattered In Cars On Freeways

Compiled From Wire Services

Twenty more cars had their rear windows shattered by mysterious projectiles in a wave of attacks on area freeways that have angered drivers and baffled investigators.

Wednesday night’s vandalism put the number of attacks at 146 over the last three weeks. No one has been hurt and no arrests have been made.

Theories on the assailants’ method of attack include BB or pellet guns, high-powered slingshots, rocks hung from overpasses with fishing lines, and even lasers, microwaves or other energy waves.

“It could be some gang initiation,” Highway Patrol Officer Rob Lund said.
