Hawaii Has No Answers For Aztecs

Associated Press

Billy Blanton threw two touchdown passes and Jason Moore scored a pair of touchdowns to lead San Diego State to a 56-8 Western Athletic Conference victory over Hawaii Friday night.

The heavily-favored Aztecs, who had not played a game in 20 days, had six different players score touchdowns. Because of scheduling conflicts with the San Diego Padres, the Aztecs had been idle since routing Oklahoma 51-31 on Sept. 21.

But the time off was not evident in San Diego State’s play. The Aztecs (3-0 overall, 1-0 WAC) decided the game in the first half when they took a 35-8 lead.

Blanton showed no rust as he completed 16 of 21 passes for 159 yards and threw touchdowns of 21 yards to Nate Jacquet and a 4-yarder to Az Hakim.

Hawaii (1-6, 0-4) continued its hapless ways with its 15th straight WAC road loss. Hawaii has been outscored 142-8 in three league road games this season.
