Darlene Barrier Passes Bar Exam In Nevada
Darlene S. Barrier, a 1996 cum laude graduate of Gonzaga Law School, recently passed the Nevada state bar exam and will be admitted to the Nevada State Bar Association this month.
Barrier, a 1989 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and a 1993 graduate of Eastern Washington University, is currently employed by John S. McGroarty as a law clerk in the 8th Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nev.
Jackie Gailley, Rathdrum, recently completed the ophthalmic assistant examination and earned the credentials of Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Gailley was recognized by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology for her professional knowledge and qualifications in ophthalmic medical assistance and a commitment to maintaining a high level of eye care for patients.
Several local students were chosen as sorority pledges at Washington State University: Angie Day, Coeur d’Alene, Alpha Pi; Meghan Douglas, Post Falls, Kappa Alpha Theta; and Cora Christensen, Rathdrum, Kappa Delta.
Jennifer Stoltey, Plummer, placed first among the leaders at the American Simmental Association’s summer classic held recently in Fort Worth, Texas.
Stoltey, who competed with 286 other American Junior Simmental Association members representing 28 states, took first place in the sales talk competition and ranked 15th in public speaking.
The weeklong program gave students an opportunity to participate in many different cattle-related activities designed to enhance the learning process through hands-on experience, public recognition and friendly competition.
Competition points were gained in categories of showmanship, heifer competition, judging, public speaking, sales talk, and herdsman and sire summary quizzes. Non-scoring competition included promotion and advertising, interviewing and a beef bowl.
