Exner Paces Eastern To Win Over Idaho State

Kim Exner nearly had a triple-double with 25 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks as Eastern Washington defeated Idaho State 15-17, 15-11, 15-8, 15-8 in a Big Sky Conference volleyball match Thursday at Reese Court.

Exner, who ranks second in the conference in kills and is fourth in digs, led the Eagles to their third straight victory. She will be trying for her third consecutive 20-kill effort when Eastern hosts Big Sky newcomer Sacramento State Saturday at 7 p.m.

Eastern (10-9, 4-5) moved from seventh to fifth in the Big Sky standings with the win, moving ahead of the Bengals (11-14, 4-7).

Lynn Robison added 10 kills and 15 digs for the Eagles, with freshman Lacey Coover adding seven kills and 21 digs.

Idaho State’s Courtney Davis had 39 assists to become the Big Sky Conference’s all-time leader. Now with 4,747, she broke the previous record of 4,744 set by Kelley Neely of Idaho from 1982-85. , DataTimes
