Stadium Plan Wins Ruling

Compiled From Wire Services

Venerable outdoor-gear maker C.C. Filson Co. lost its bid in Kittitas County Superior Court to block construction of a new baseball stadium for the Seattle Mariners south of the Kingdome.

Filson is facing eviction from its south Seattle property if the stadium is built at the site preferred by the Public Facilities District.

Judge Michael Cooper on Thursday dismissed Filson’s contention that the Public Facilities District broke the law when it chose the site for the ballpark.

Filson is still free to seek review by another judge before Monday.

Three Yakima pitchers combined for a two-hitter as the Bears beat Eugene 2-1 in the opening game of the Northwest League championship series, at Eugene, Ore.

Yakima can sweep the best-of-three series with a victory at home Sunday.
