Dear Heloise: I have reaped great information from hundreds of your helpful hints and now I can pay back a little bit.

I build hanging baskets for my wife and friends. It is difficult to find pans that fit in the bottom of the baskets to sit the potted plant in. I solved this problem by cutting the bottom 3 inches off of a discarded plastic milk jug. The plant fits very nicely into this and it helps to keep the plant moist during the hot part of the day.

This also saves me about $1 on each basket and I feel like I am recycling to a certain degree.- Gene McIntyre, San Antonio
