Mead workhorse Scott McGlocklin, running out of Mead’s one-back set, had 105 yards at halftime and 179 for the game. … Mead’s last TD came after the Highlanders drove to the Panthers 1 but turned the ball over on downs. McGlocklin bulled ahead for 11 yards before Chris McCullough came in. McCullough went up the middle, broke a tackle and cut to the right sideline before racing to the end zone with 2:24 to play. McCullough finished with 128 yards on four carries. … Turnovers set up the Panthers twice in the first half. Nick Kuhta sacked Highlanders quarterback Kris Walters, knocking the ball loose and Cody Ferguson recovered the fumble on the Shadle 49. That led to McGlocklin’s first TD. The second turnover was on the kickoff. … A 28-yard punt return by Evan Thomas set up a 42-yard scoring drive in the third quarter. McGlocklin capped it with a 3-yard run 2:42 before the end of the quarter. … Shadle Park hasn’t beaten Mead since the last game of the 1991 season, when a 21-14 decision gave the Highlanders a share of the league title. They went on to the state semifinals.
