UI Will Celebrate Hoover Inauguration

The University of Idaho celebrates the inauguration of its 15th president, Robert A. Hoover, this week in Moscow.

The Chamber Music Series will present a concert at 8 p.m. today in the university auditorium.

Wednesday and Thursday, the Borah Symposium address “China: Politics and Culture,” begins at 7 p.m. in the university auditorium.

Thursday, UI officials will hold the official groundbreaking for the University Commons project. The project is designed to provide a centrally located, easily accessible student union building.

The inauguration ceremony will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday in the ASUI Kibbie Activity Center, with a public reception afterward. Afternoon classes are canceled.

UI history professor and author Carlos Schwantes will preside over the ceremony, which features guest speaker C. Peter Magrath, president of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. Hoover also will give an inaugural address.

The Lionel Hampton School of Music will wrap up the celebration Saturday with a special inaugural concert at 4 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall.
