Another Rally Thwarts Ferris

Prep softball

Rogers (2-1) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, capped by Angie Vulcano’s run-scoring triple, for a 6-5 Greater Spokane League softball win Thursday over Ferris. Jamie Merrill struck out seven for the win.

Ferris (0-3) has led in every GSL game, 5-1 in a 10-6 loss to University and 5-3 after six in a 10-5 loss to Central Valley. Three Saxons errors in the seventh aided Rogers’ rally.

Gooch finished 3 for 4, Durgan 2 for 4.

Cheryl Andrizzi threw a one-hitter and Courtney Nollmeyer had a two-run single as the defending champion Titans (3-0) climbed into first place with a win over the visiting Indians (0-4).

Andrizzi struck out 12 and allowed just two baserunners, including Cheri Bibb’s single in the fifth. Nollmeyer also tripled to lead off the sixth.
