Next-Day Service For Mystery Fire

Volunteer firefighters arrived too late to save a trailer and shed from burning to the ground sometime late Tuesday.

They arrived Thursday morning.

“No one knew about it,” said Frank Kokot, the assistant chief of Bayview’s volunteer fire department.

No one was at the home, located in the woods two miles west of Bayview. The fire was reported when a boy came to check on the trailer for its owner.

“All he found was a bunch of rubble, smoldering away,” Kokot said. Someone later admitted seeing smoke in the area, but thought it was some sort of intentional burning.
