Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I appreciate your great concern for animals. I just learned of an unexpected new danger for kitties: shopping bags with handles.

While playing, one of my kitties got his head and one leg caught through one of the handles, which was then dangerously tight around his neck. I immediately rescued him but learned a valuable lesson: Keep shopping bags away from cats unless you have cut off the handles. They would probably present the same danger for puppies or small dogs. I wanted to call this to your attention. - C.K., Great Falls, Va.

Thanks for the warning. Plastic bags should be kept away from cats, dogs and, especially, small children. I’m so glad you were able to save your kitty in time. Thank goodness he has eight more lives left. - Heloise xxxx
