Empty Seats The Rage At Comiskey Park
Toronto’s 5-0 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday drew a paid crowd of just 746, the smallest for a White Sox home game in 27 years.
Not since Sept. 21, 1970, when 672 attended a doubleheader against Kansas City, had Chicago played in front of a smaller paid crowd at home.
The game time temperature was 34 and equally unnerving at other Midwest ballparks.
Including free tickets and those who used tickets from Tuesday night’s postponed game, total attendance was 1,677.
In Kansas City, Mo., snow fell throughout much of the game between the Royals and the Orioles in front of 5,620.
In Detroit, 6,477 saw the Tigers beat the Twins 10-5, and the Texas-at-Milwaukee game was postponed because of the cold.
