Seahawk Now A Bear

Compiled From Wire Services

Free-agent wide receiver Ricky Proehl, who spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. Terms were not made public.

The Bears also waived wide receiver Michael Timpson, who caught 86 passes the past two seasons with Chicago. Timpson was entering the final year of a contract that would have paid him $1.5 million this season.

Defensive end Neil Smith is unlikely to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, coach Marty Schottenheimer said.

Smith, a nine-year veteran and one of the Chiefs’ most popular players, already has received offers from Denver and Oakland.

Randall Cunningham was offered a one-year contract from the Minnesota Vikings. The longtime Eagles star quarterback, who sat out last season after announcing his retirement from football, was expected to accept the deal.
