Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Please run something in your column about telephone courtesy.

It seems that many in America have lost all consideration for others. There ought to be a time after which the phone should not be heard ringing in a person’s own home. I would think that time would fall somewhere between 9 and 10 p.m. (except in case of an emergency).

My teenage son gets calls from girls at almost any hour they think they want to call. They do not realize that some people do still practice “early to bed, early to rise.”

I do not like to be rude or impolite to others, but sometimes after being awakened from a sound sleep I feel like “sounding off.” If courtesy is not what is lacking, perhaps just a little good old common sense and thoughtfulness is. - A Reader
