Record Snowfall Keeps Passes Closed

Record snow in the Cascade Range will delay the spring reopening of the North Cascades Highway and Chinook Pass, the state Department of Transportation said Thursday.

The projected opening date for the North Cascades Highway, where snow is up to 80 feet deep, now is May 8. No projection was given for Chinook Pass.
