Edgar Padilla and Carmelo Travieso, the backcourt that led the University of Massachusetts to the Final Four in 1996, helped Puerto Rico (4-0) to a surprising 74-69 win over the United States (3-1) in the under 23 world basketball championships in Melbourne, Australia.

University of Minnesota basketball player Courtney James, 20, a sophomore starter on the Gophers team that reached the Final Four last season, was found guilty of one count of domestic assault and was cleared of a second similar charge.
