The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who abruptly fired Ron Wilson in May, introduced Pierre Page as their new coach.

“It was well worth the wait,” said general manager Jack Ferreira, who had been through months of compensation negotiations with Calgary to receive permission to talk with Page, who resigned after a contract dispute with the Flames.

Butch Harmon, golf instructor for Tiger Woods, confirmed that he is leaving his post as director of golf for a Houston country club that does not accept female members.

Harmon said he will leave Lochinvar Golf Club, where he has worked the past five years, Sept. 1 and begin his new post at a course in Las Vegas where he is also building the Harmon Golf School. Harmon’s new work address will be Rio Secco Golf Course, a private facility open only to guests of the Rio Hotel and Casino.

The course will open Oct. 1, with the golf school to follow at a later date.

Because of Woods’ multi-ethnic status and stated goal to help eliminate discrimination in golf, Harmon and Woods have received criticism in recent months for holding practice sessions at a facility that does not allow women on its grounds.
