Kid Katabatic Wins Mile

Kid Katabatic, with Chris Loseth aboard, won the 62nd running of the $200,000 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Wash.

The British Columbia-bred 4-year-old gelding defeated heavy favorite Hesabull and Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens by two lengths to take the stakes victory in a track-record time of 1:34-1/5.

Kid Katabatic, owned by Keith Ferguson, Melvin and Lindsay Russell and trainer Shauna Van Oostdam, led wire-to-wire.

John The Magician nipped One Emotion by a neck to win the Breeders’ Stakes at Woodbine Race Track in Toronto.
