Road Turns Trail

Mountain biking

Mother Nature has excluded some of the traffic from a Idaho Panhandle National Forests road, making the route ripe for mountain biking.

A 10-mile stretch of the Slate Creek Road No. 225, which leads from the Wallace area to the St. Joe River, has been closed to vehicles wider than 50 inches because of flood damage. The road has been narrowed by sloughing, but can still be easily negotiated by two-wheeled vehicles.

The road is closed from the Slate Creek Road’s junction with the Dunn Peak Road No. 1934 just north of the St. Joe River to the Slate Creek Campground Road No. 3745 near Moon Pass. , DataTimes
