Nykesha Sales scored 32 points to lead the United States past Cuba 100-82 for the women’s basketball gold medal in the World University Games in Catania, Sicily. DeLisha Milton added 20 points and nine rebounds.

Russia defeated the United States 15-8, 15-7, 15-10 in the women’s volleyball final.

The NCAA suspended University of North Carolina women’s soccer coach Anson Dorrance for the next NCAA Tournament game the team plays. The suspension stems from Dorrance’s behavior during last year’s championship game. Dorrance has guided the Tar Heels to 14 national titles in 19 seasons.
