Airmen With Area Ties Graduate From Training
Air Force Airman Brenda S. Joyner, daughter of Paul Smith of Coeur d’Alene and Dona Schartzenberger of Florida, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Joyner received special training in human relations and will earn credit toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Toni N. Telebar, daughter of Paul Telebar of Hayden Lake, Idaho and Ruth Johnson of California, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Telebar received training in human relations and will earn credits toward an associate degree at the Community College of the Air Force.
Air Force Airman Douglas J. McPherson, son of Douglas and Lorreta McPherson of Rathdrum, Idaho, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
McPherson, a 1997 graduate of Lakeland High School, received training in the Air Force mission, customs and organization as well as special training in human relations.
He will earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Local Catholic Daughters from the Court Our Lady of the Lake No. 1447 have recently received awards honoring their dedication and service. Honorees and their awards follow.
Theo Williams, a 50-year charter member and chairperson of volunteers of Catholic Daughters and St. Thomas Church Auxiliary, received the 1997 Volunteer of the Year Award plaque for outstanding service. Ivanka Suveg, first vice regent of Court 1447, took first place in the North Idaho College art contest spring display with her oil painting, “The Magic Eye,” and placed first in the local Catholic Daughters poetry contest for her poem, “Angels in My Life,” and received third in the state contest. Suveg has also recently completed her autobiography and is writing a children’s book. Sadie Brooten, a 48-year member of the court, was selected recently as a Hall of Fame Honoree by the Aging and Adult Services Advisory Board for service and dedication to other seniors citizens. She also received the first annual North Idaho College Alumni Association Award in recognition of the highest standards of community living.
Robert French, an eighth-grader at Lakes Middle School and son of David and Roberta French of Coeur d’Alene, was selected as the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Student of the Month for October.
French, who is a musician, cartoonist and magician, was cited for being an exemplary student and a lifelong learner who is polite to adults and peers alike.
He was nominated by his teacher, Robyn Palmer.
Amy Nagle, a University of Idaho senior interior design major, recently received the Best Conceptual Student Chair Design Award for her entry in the 1997 Chair Affair in Boise.
