Forest Service Reopens Rock Pit

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Stump Creek rock pit on the south side of Forest Service Road 437 has been reopened by the U.S. Forest Service.

The informal shooting range and all-terrain vehicle use area was closed during recent logging. Initially, the area was to be used as a place for landing logs and servicing a logging helicopter. After further consideration, the staging area was moved, said Susan Matthews, ranger for the Coeur d’Alene River Ranger District.

However, travelers in the area may still experience delays during the logging of timber damaged by the November 1996 ice storm.
