Get Your New Year’s Kicks Here’s A Sampling Of The Hottest Spots For New Year’s Eve

Come New Year’s Eve there’ll be hundreds of celebrations to pick from around the Inland Northwest. Dancing. Drinking. Live bands. Whatever your kick, there’s something out there.

The following is just a taste of your options, just a little something to whet your New Years appetite.

For those who love to samba, it’ll be a Brazilian New Year’s Eve at Hobart’s Jazz Lounge in the Cavanaugh’s Fourth Avenue Hotel. The nine-piece Brazilian jazz group Desafinado will cap off an evening that includes a Latin dance competition, door prizes and champagne at midnight.

Tickets for the party are $25 per person. For the party plus a five-course meal, tickets are $89.98 per couple. Add room reservations and it’ll cost $129.98. For reservations call 838-6101. Partiers are invited to wear all white - a New Year’s Eve tradition in Brazil.

The Davenport Hotel will be the place for dancing and partying to the sounds of Arnie Carruthers and his trio of musicians. Music starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until 1 a.m. A champagne toast at midnight, party packs and door prizes will be part of the evening. Tickets in advance are $25 per person or $45 per couple ($28 and $48 at the door.) Guests must be at least 21 years old to attend. Call 455-8888 for more information.

Cavanaugh’s River Inn will ring in the new year with champagne and dancing to the sounds of Loose Endz. Packages that include dinner at the Ripple’s Restaurant ($90 per couple) and overnight accommodations for two are available for $140 per couple. Call 323-2574 for reservations.

The Shilo Inn also offers party, dinner and room packages. Ray & the Rockets play at a party New Year’s Eve that includes champagne and toys for $25. Add a prime rib and salmon buffet to that and the cost is $95; add overnight accommodations and morning buffet and the price is $150 per couple. For reservations call 535-9000.

Soul Proprietor performs at Ankeny’s atop The Ridpath for the holiday bash. It’ll cost $98 per person to see the band but that ticket also includes overnight accommodations, prime rib and salmon dinner, a breakfast buffet and a champagne toast at midnight. Call 838-6122 for reservations.

For a party that’s easier on the wallet try the Fort Spokane Brewery. Starting at 9 p.m., local jazz-rock favorite BeeCraft plays jams to dance to. The cover charge is only $5 and includes midnight champagne and party favors.

At Ichabod’s North, Spokane band Fatty Lumpkin headlines a rock and roll New Year’s Eve party that includes Lopez and 50cc. Cover charge is $4 and there’ll be party favors, drink specials and door prizes to boot.

The party at Outback Jack’s will be hosted by DJ Ryndog who’ll begin spinning the dance tunes at 8 p.m. Disco will be the flavor from 8 to 9 p.m. and ‘80s music will be the theme from 9 to 10 p.m. The evening will include contests, prizes, party favors and free champagne at midnight. Pitchers will cost $3 from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

The Spokane Folklore Society is inviting the public to join it for its annual New Year’s Eve Contra Dance to be held at the Woman’s Club Hall (1428 W. Ninth). Singles, couples, beginners and families are welcome to come learn this folk dancing. A waltz workshop will be taught from 8 to 9 p.m. with the folk dancing to start at 9 p.m. and last until 12:30 a.m. All the dances will be walked through beforehand. Admission is $8 ($6 for Folklore Society members.) There is a potluck at the intermission so bringing a favorite dish is requested.

Geronimo’s in Springdale will host a party that includes dancing to the band Greywolf, midnight champagne, midnight hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and party favors. Non-alcoholic beverages and specials for the designated drivers will be available. Cover charge is $5.

The Rodeo Restaurant and Country Club will host a bash that features country band Herrick’s Pride. Show runs from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Prizes will be given away all night along including $100 and tickets to Hank Thompson.

Cowboy Bob’s will play host to the variety rock band Route 66 for their festivities. There is no cover charge and party favors and complimentary champagne will be given out at midnight.

The festivities at Mother’s Pub Wednesday will include DJ-spun dance tunes, champagne and party favors. The cost will be $6.

Idaho parties

The Coeur d’Alene Cultural Center (414-1/2 Mullan Ave.) will hold its first all-ages New Year’s Eve celebration. Three bands - Ernest, Bead and Honest Puck - will perform at a party to include belly dancers, an open drum circle and prize-winning contests.

The party runs from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at St. Vincent de Paul or by calling (208) 664-3095 ext. 31. Proceeds will benefit the cultural center.

Carl Rey and the Blues Gators kick up the New Year’s Eve fun at Tubs in Coeur d’Alene. Tickets are $20 and include complimentary party favors, desserts and champagne. Music starts at 9:30 p.m. and lasts until 1 a.m.

Cafe Blue with Pat Coast will perform at Mad Daddy’s Blues Club on New Year’s Eve. Tickets cost $18 a couple or $10 for singles. The price includes champagne and party favors. Music starts at 9 p.m.

Nancy Lynn Allen and Fine Time Communion will perform at City Slickers in Coeur d’Alene starting at 9 p.m. Cover charge will be $3. Dinner and champagne specials also will be offered.

The Best Western Templin’s Resort in Post Falls offers room, dinner and entertainment packages ranging from $149.99 to 169.99. The price includes accommodations for two, a bottle of champagne upon arrival, a beef and salmon dinner, live entertainment into the lounge (the band Sawtell) and in the conference center (the band Loose Change) as well as a buffet breakfast the next morning. The Coeur d’Alene Resort will offer several different New Year’s Eve celebration options.

The Motorcycles and Motown bash will be held in the resort ballroom. For the price of $95 per couple or $50 per individual, partiers get a chance to win a Harley motorcycle and leather jacket. Complimentary wine and champagne will be served from 6:30 to 7:30. A five-course dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. with dancing to the band Rhythm Dawgs to begin at 9 p.m. Room packages also are available and start at $255. The attire is formal dress or Coeur d’Alene biker formal. Call (800) 688-5253 for reservations.

Dinner and room packages starting at $375 also are available for those who want to dine in Beverly’s, the resort’s signature restaurant. Robert Vaughn will perform New Year’s Eve and the price tag includes breakfast the following morning.

In the resort’s Shore Lounge the band Manito will break out the dance tunes. You name it, they play it. Tickets are only $15 and include a champagne toast and party favors. No reservations taken. Show start around 9 p.m.
