Officials Extend Comment Deadline
Federal officials are extending the formal public comment period for the Eastside and Upper Columbia River Basin draft environmental impact statements by 60 days.
The two impact statements address the management of more than 72 million acres of Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management land in the interior Columbia River Basin and portions of the Klamath and Great basins.
One statement covers land in eastern Oregon and Washington. The other covers land in Idaho, western Montana, northern Nevada and parts of Utah and Wyoming.
A new report analyzing economic and social conditions and customs of communities within the project area prompted officials to extend the comment period. The report will be available for review in mid-February.
Officials said adding 60 days to the public comment period would allow enough time to review and comment on new information.
