Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I make confetti eggs year-round for our church, which has a bazaar every September.

I make my dye from crepe paper. I find it at resale shops or garage sales very cheap.

Using warm water, I soak some crepe paper until the color is as deep as I want it. I then add a little vinegar. It is more convenient than egg dye.

Because I can use a little as I go along, and save the rest, it is very inexpensive.

Confetti eggs are becoming popular, so I hope this helps other people, especially when raising money for church bazaars and festivals. - Bridgette Canales, San Antonio

Cascarones, hollowed egg shells filled with confetti, are really popular in Texas, especially during celebrations such as our Fiesta in San Antonio. - Heloise
