Compiled From Wire Services

Spain’s Miguel Angel Martin birdied the final hole to beat Fred Couples by one shot in the $960,000 Heineken Classic at Perth, Australia for his first victory in five years.

Martin had a 72-hole total of 273 - 15-under par - over the par-72, 7,101-yard The Vines resort course.

At Key Biscayne, Fla., Gibby Gilbert had five birdies over the last 10 holes in a final-round 66 that gave him a four-stroke victory in the Royal Caribbean Classic, the opening event of the year on the Senior PGA Tour.

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was chosen as the venue for next year’s Presidents Cup, the event which pits the best 12 Americans against the best in Australia, southern Africa and Fiji.
