The Kootenai County Drug Task Force arrested a California man Tuesday after finding approximately $14,000 worth of methamphetamine in his Coeur d’Alene hotel room, according to Coeur d’Alene police officials.
Alejandro Ortis, 20, of Merced, Calif., was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine after being arrested at 10 a.m.
Task force officers found more than 292 grams of the illegal stimulant methamphetamine in Ortis’ room at the Fairfield Inn on Fourth Street, said Capt. Carl Bergh. It was packaged into 12, one-ounce packages. Officers also confiscated scales and $2,090 in cash.
Hotel workers first noticed the illegal drugs after they became suspicious of Ortis and checked his room, Bergh said. They then notified authorities. , DataTimes
