Rocking With The Dinosaurs

Don And Dave Runyan U-Bild Features

Here’s a project that combines the classic rocking horse with children’s natural fascination with dinosaurs.

This do-it-yourself rocking dinosaur adds some prehistoric fun to playtime and makes a great surprise for the little dino fans in your life.

The project has features that both children and adults will appreciate: a sweet expression, “fossils” for rockers, comfortable seating and handholds, sturdy construction and a safe and gentle rocking motion.

Required materials include 2-by-12 and 1-by-12 pine lumber, dowels, glue, screws, paint and a wooden ball for the eyes.

Do-it-yourselfers simply trace the parts onto wood, cut them out, assemble according to step-by-step instructions, sand and finish with non-toxic paint. The completed rocking dinosaur measures 45 inches long by 36 inches tall-by-12 inches wide.

The Rocking Dinosaur plan, No. 815, is $7.95 and includes step-by-step instructions with 20 photos, full-size traceable patterns and a complete shopping list and cutting schedule.

A package of kids’ rockers plans, No. C73, is $18.95 and includes the rocking dinosaur plus plans for three other rockers-a rocking horse, a pony rocker and a rocking airplane.

A catalog picturing hundreds of projects is $3.95.

Prices include postage and handling (for first-class mail, add $1 per item up to $3 maximum).
