Naia School’s Basketball Team Has A Wonderful Life In Its Home Gym

Associated Press

Maybe it’s the pep band and dance troupe, which keep the place rocking. Maybe it’s the banners hanging from the ceiling, constant reminders of the string of success. Maybe it’s the message on the locker-room chalkboard, “We Do Not Lose At Home!”

Whatever the case, Life College, a tiny, NAIA school in the Atlanta suburbs that specializes in chiropractic medicine, has built an amazing home-court winning streak in men’s basketball.

The Running Eagles have not lost at the 2,500-seat Life Sports Center since a 77-70 defeat to Georgetown, Ky., on Nov. 13, 1993. That was 65 victories ago.

“The streak is getting higher and people are starting to talk about it,” said coach Roger Kaiser, whose team is 25-1 this season. “It doesn’t bother us to talk about it because it’s a motivational point now. We like to beat anybody, but it’s a little more important to beat them at home.”

Life, ranked No. 1 in its division, still has a ways to go to reach Kentucky’s streak of 129 straight wins during the Adolph Rupp era.

Kaiser doesn’t look ahead that far.

“I know it can end at any time,” he said. “All it takes is one game where things just go wrong.”
