Man Found Dead After Pickup Crashes

From Staff Reports

A Coeur d’Alene man was found dead Thursday night after his pickup apparently crashed into a sign post, the Idaho State Police said.

Two young men discovered James D. Fleming, 48, dead behind the wheel of his Chevy pickup in the Plumb-Co Supply parking lot at 155 E. Dalton.

The men stopped after they saw Fleming’s truck crash into a brick sign post. But when they found Fleming, he was suffering from a head injury, had no pulse and was not breathing, according to an ISP report.

It is unknown whether alcohol was involved. Fleming was not using a seat belt, according to the ISP.

Although the exact cause of death is under investigation, it appears Fleming had been eastbound from Government Way at a high rate of speed when he crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, left the roadway and rammed into the brick sign post in the parking lot, according to the ISP report.
