Dear Heloise: Instead of buying an expensive carrying case for your cellular phone, try a large, soft eyeglass case instead. Donna Mustillo, N. Caldwell, N.J.

We had a couple of eyeglass cases around here and tried it. The larger cellular phone did not fit in it, but the small one did.

It’s worth a try since those phone carrying cases can be expensive. Thanks for writing. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: My hint is for dieters as well as older people.

When I go out to eat, I order a regular-size meal and divide the large portions in half before I begin eating.
