Task Force Will Look Into Dornan Defeat
A House panel established a task force on Friday to handle an election challenge filed by former Rep. Bob Dornan, R-Calif., to his defeat in November.
Democrat Rep. Loretta Sanchez was certified the winner by California officials, and took the oath of office on Tuesday.
Dornan claims Sanchez benefited from illegal voting in her 979-vote victory, and filed a protest with the House Committee on Oversight.
Sanchez has 30 days to reply. She is expected to call for the dismissal of Dornan’s challenge.
Reps. Vernon Ehlers of Michigan and Robert Ney of Ohio will be the Republican members of the task force.
Democrats will have one member who is yet to be appointed.
