Learn To Fish

Fly fishing

Two local deans of fly fishing will take a breather from their enviable angling expeditions to teach a six-session fly-fishing course through the Spokane Falls Community College Institute for Extended Learning.

Dave Holmes and Clay Findlay, members of the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club, will teach all the basics from fly casting to techniques for fishing lakes and streams and a crash session on entomology and fly patterns. Rods and equipment are provided if you don’t have your own.

The course begins Wednesday and runs each week, 7 p.m-9 p.m. at Ferris High School. Cost is $30. Pre-registration is required. Call 533-3770 to register with a bank card. Info: 533-3771.

The comprehensive fly-fishing school taught by the Spokane Fly Fishers runs Wednesday evenings Feb. 12-March 26. Cost is $60 for adults or $40 for anglers under 17 years old. Space is limited. Info: Bill Smith, 534-8275. , DataTimes
