Will Fourth Time Be The Charm? Former Bill Receiver Beebe Tries Again To Win A Title

Scott Soshnick Bloomberg (New York) News

Don Beebe’s motto: If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try again.

The Green Bay Packers wide receiver is back for another shot at a championship, three years after losing his fourth Super Bowl as a member of the Buffalo Bills.

He played in only three however, missing the team’s first appearance because of a broken leg.

At 35, Beebe knows this may be his last chance, and he isn’t about to let it slip away.

“We’re going to win this game,” he said. “There’s no doubt in my mind.” The oddsmakers apparently agree with him, listing the Packers as 14-point favorites.

Beebe finished the season with 39 catches for 699 yards and four touchdowns.

“He’s been great,” said quarterback Brett Favre, whose offensive arsenal includes receivers Freeman, Brooks, Andre Rison, Keith Jackson and Mark Chmura.

A deeply religious person, Beebe often talks with defensive end Reggie White, a minister, about things other than football.

White, the NFL’s all-time sacks leader, is also without a ring, although Beebe has little sympathy for the Super Bowl first-timer.

“I’ve heard Reggie White talk about how much he wants to win a Super Bowl because he’s never been to one,” Beebe said. “I don’t want to hear anything about Reggie.

I’ve played on three losing teams and that is a lot worse than never playing in the game at all.”

xxxx Did you know: The first Super Bowl in New Orleans wasn’t played at the Superdome? It was Super Bowl IV and it was played at Tulane Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7.
