Area Graduates Enlist In Army, Leave For Basic

Matthew J. Conrad, son of Robert and Donna Conrad of Coeur d’Alene, recently enlisted in the Army as a motor transport operator and departed for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Conrad, a 1995 Coeur d’Alene High School graduate, qualifies for a $2,000 cash incentive due to test scores and enlistment choice and joined the army for skill training, experience, travel and adventure and to meet the physical and mental challenges of the Army.

Daniel P. Erwin, son of Dave and Marlene Erwin of Coeur d’Alene, has enlisted in the Army’s delayed entry program as a heavy-wheel vehicle mechanic and recently departed for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Erwin, a 1996 Lakeland High School graduate, joined the Army for college money and qualifies for up to $30,000 under the Army College Fund program due to test scores and enlistment choice.

Timothy Grotuesmann, son of Jack and Joanne Anderson of Coeur d’Alene, has enlisted in the Army’s delayed entry program as a Cavalry scout and recently departed for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Bryan E. Taylor, son of Denise Taylor of Post Falls, has joined the Army as a wheel vehicle repairer and recently departed for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Taylor, who attended Post Falls High School and North Idaho College, joined the Army to earn more money, skill training, travel and adventure, and experience.

Brian D. Mitchell, son of Larry and Canda Mitchell of Post Falls, has enlisted in the Army as an M1 armor crewman and recently departed for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Mitchell, a 1996 Post Falls High School graduate, will qualify for up to $25,000 under the Army College Fund Program and joined the Army for travel and adventure and college money.

Richard P. Munoz Jr., son of Donna Dolan of Coeur d’Alene, has enlisted in the Army as a finance specialist and recently departed for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Munoz, a 1996 Project Coeur d’Alene High School graduate, joined the Army for money for college and has enrolled in the G.I. Bill for up to $15,403 toward full-time schooling.

Christopher D. Johnson, son of Bob Johnson of Renton, Wash., and Gayle Christy of Rathdrum, has joined the Army as a telecommunications computer operator-maintainer and recently departed for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Johnson, a 1995 graduate of Issaquah High School, joined the Army for skill training, experience, and to earn more money.
