Jerry Braswell broke out of a horrible shooting slump with his first double-digit scoring game in more than three weeks as No. 2 Wake Forest thumped Virginia Tech 61-44 Tuesday night at Winston-Salem, N.C.

Braswell, 11 for 40 from the field over his last six games, hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points as the Demon Deacons (16-1) held their 17th consecutive opponent under 39 percent shooting.

Virginia Tech star Ace Custis, guarded by Tim Duncan most of the game, finished with only nine points for the Hokies (10-9).

(9) Louisville 71, DePaul 54

DeJuan Wheat scored seven of his 20 points during an 11-0 run that propelled the Cardinals (17-2, 4-1 Conference USA) past the Blue Demons (3-15, 1-6) at Louisville, Ky.

(16) Michigan 67, Penn St. 59

At State College, Pa., Louis Bullock scored 23 points and Robert Traylor had 10 rebounds as the Wolverines (15-5, 5-3 Big Ten) beat the Nittany Lions (8-9, 1-7).

(20) Xavier 91, Rhode Island 79

At Cincinnati, Gary Lumpkin scored 24 points and Torraye Braggs scored nine of his 20 points in a late run that spurred the Musketeers (14-3, 5-2 Atlantic 10) past the Rams (12-6, 6-2).

Baylor 76, (23) Texas 72

Damond Mannon’s 3-pointer with 21 seconds to play snapped a 72-72 tie and gave the Bears (13-7, 2-6 Big 12) their victory over the Longhorns (11-6, 5-2) at Waco, Texas.
