Bars Targeted In Burglary Spree
Burglars have broken into four Coeur d’Alene bars in the past four days, taking cash and stereo equipment and leaving thousands of dollars in damage.
Both the Regina Bar on Fourth Street and Gibbs Tavern on Northwest Boulevard were broken into Sunday, according to Coeur d’Alene police reports. The Parkside Bistro on Mullan Avenue and the Sunset Bar on Appleway were broken into Tuesday.
No arrests have been made yet, but, “We’ve developed a potential suspect in at least one of the cases,” said Coeur d’Alene police Capt. Carl Bergh. “We are looking at the possibility that there may be a connection in those cases.”
Burglars took $300 in cash from Gibbs Tavern. They also caused about $4,500 in damage after they used a pry bar to open a cigarette machine, jukebox and floor safe, according to the police report.
At the Regina Bar about $300 in cash was taken. Burglars broke the door and damaged a cigarette machine and jukebox. Damage was estimated at $1,200, according to the police report.
At the Parkside Bistro, burglars took stereo equipment worth more than $1,000.
Although nothing was taken from the Sunset Bar, about $400 in damage was done to the door when thieves tried to pry it open, according to police.
