Ed Gray scored 27 points, including four free throws in the final 46 seconds, and California hung on to win its fifth straight game, beating No. 15 Stanford 70-64 Wednesday night.
Randy Duck added 16 points for Cal (15-5, 6-3 Pac-10), which won its 15th straight at Harmon Gym and clinched its fourth winning season in the last five years.
Brevin Knight’s 15 points led Stanford (13-4, 6-3), which was held to a season-low point total by Cal, the top defensive team in the Pac-10. Stanford shot only 36.2 percent.
After pulling to within 31-29 early in the second half, Stanford failed to score for more than 8 minutes.
