Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My husband and I do a lot of canning during the spring and summer, so I have a lot of extra glass jars with lids, sized half-pint, 1 pint, 1 quart and 2 quarts. I save all the lids and use these jars for leftovers in my refrigerator. You can see what’s in the jar, plus I find most foods stay good longer. Ethel Olson, Valley, Wash.

Ohhh, you shared my trick! If it’s in a clear jar and put at eye level in the fridge, it’s a sure bet to be seen and consumed! No more garbage gunk! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I have a hint for cutting perfect brownies. After the brownies are cooled, just cut with a pizza cutter. Start at one end and work your way down, making straight lines, then turn the pan around and do the same.

It is very easy, and you have perfect brownies all the same size with no messy cuts like the ones you get when you use a knife. - Terri Johnson, Union, N.J.
