Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I was in my neighborhood pharmacy a few days ago, and the women who work there had just popped some oil-free microwave popcorn. They were complaining that they couldn’t make salt stick to the popcorn. I’d had the same problem, so I shared my solution with them.
As soon as the corn is popped and I open the bag, I spray a little nonstick cooking spray in the bag, add a little salt and shake. That gives the salt something to stick to without adding fat and calories!
I hope you can use this. I always enjoy reading your column first thing each morning. - Bonnie Kellogg, Metairie, La.
Dear Heloise: I’m not sure whether or not this is a new idea, so here goes. To keep dough from sticking to the beaters of an electric mixer, I spray the beaters with nonstick cooking spray. - A. Tramontono, New Braunfels, Texas
