Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: There was a great sale on designer sheets at a local department store. I found king-size sheets in an attractive pattern but no matching pillowcases. Actually two pillowcases were the same price as one sheet. What to do?
I bought one matching flat king-size sheet. I’m not much of a sewer, but I can sew a straight seam. I measured carefully, allowing for extra hem widths, tore down instead of cutting to make sure they were on the straight and sewed them up with nice full hems and reinforced seams. One sheet was enough for eight cases. Our bed looks fantastic and I saved a whole lot.
