Seahawks Stadium Project Declared Emergency

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Metropolitan King County Council’s budget committee has unanimously declared the Seahawks stadium project an emergency, taking it one small step further along its tight construction schedule.

If approved by the full council later this month, the emergency clause will rush stadium legislation through the Courthouse, slicing off a 25-day public appeal period.

Prospective owner Paul Allen’s Football Northwest Inc. hopes to complete the $425 million stadium and exhibition hall in time for the 2002 football season.

The full council is scheduled to vote on the ordinance July 21 or 28.
