Fsu Player Wins Howser Award
Florida State center fielder J.D. Drew, the first college player to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a season, was selected winner of the Dick Howser Award as college baseball’s player of the year.
The award, voted by the American Baseball Coaches Association, followed Drew’s selection as player of the year by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.
The Hahira, Ga., athlete batted a school-record .455 with 31 home runs, 100 RBIs and 32 stolen bases in 42 attempts.
